A Deep Insight into American Politics

Our students meet US Consul of Public Affairs in Munich

On 12th January 2011 the two “Leistungskurse English” – accompanied by Mrs Kaiser and Mrs Schwietz – had a talk with the American Consul of Public Affairs, Mrs Kathryn T. Crockart. We met her at the Amerika Haus in Munich as the Consulate building is being refurbished. After introducing herself, Mrs. Crockart, a very l ikeable and humerous woman, talked about the Consulate and her tasks and duties as a representative of the United States in Bavaria. Later we could ask her numerous questions about her life, her job and America. There were many topics we were interested in, such as the Health Care reform, the Americans’ environmental awareness, the Tea Party movement or Wikileaks. She answered all our questions, even the more personal ones, in detail and gave us an insight into her job, which takes her to another country at least every four years. The conversation was very interesting and lively and we could all profit from it, not only in terms of language and information, but also because she encouraged us to work hard to succeed in life. Before taking the train back to Marktoberdorf, many of us spent a great afternoon in Munich.
